BREAKING: Bustos, Durbin, Duckworth Announce $1.8 Million Grant For MetroLINK to Expand Ferry Service

BREAKING NEWS: Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) and U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) announced that Rock Island County will receive $1,850,000 in federal funding to expand MetroLINK’s passenger ferry service. The funding, awarded by the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Passenger Ferry Grant Program, will support the construction of a terminal near the newly developed “Bend District” on the Mississippi River in East Moline, Illinois. UPDATED: Though the Mississippi Valley Blues Society (MVBS) in 2020 had to cancel its annual blues festival and Blues in the Schools education program, it was hardly idle. The completely volunteer-run nonprofit organization, founded in 1984, completely revamped its website, mvbs.org – with much more content than before. The highly anticipated Mississippi Valley Blues Festival returns this year, but in a new location! Due to the record-breaking flood of 2019, Mississippi Valley Blues Society announced the relocation of the 34th Mississippi Valley Blues Festival to Murphy Park at The Bend in East Moline (900 Bend Boulevard East Moline). This year’s Blues Festival will take place on Friday Jul 5 and Saturday Jul 6. Gates open at 4 p.m. on Friday and at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
