Country’s Jason Aldean to Headline August Mississippi Valley Fair

Country star Jason Aldean will kick off the planned return of the Mississippi Valley Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021. Last year, the 101-year-tradition canceled altogether due to Covid-19. Before that, the fair announced no large grandstand concerts in 2020, and canceling of the big concerts previously scheduled, including Keith Urban and Pitbull. It planned to program local bands in the grandstand, which has a seating capacity of 6,000. The St. Patrick Society of the Quad Cities has decided to postpone the planned 35th-annual Grand Parade from March 13 to Saturday, Aug. 28, after working with the state of Illinois and the cities of Rock Island and Davenport. They’re calling the rescheduled bi-state event Grand Parade XXXV.2. “Disappointing as it was to postpone the march on our traditional Saturday in March, we had to consider many factors in reaching our decision. A little more than two weeks after the Mississippi Valley Fair announced it would scale back its offerings this year, including no big-name grandstand acts, on Tuesday it said it would cancel the 101-year-old tradition altogether. The fair, at 2815 W. The Mississippi Valley Fair will go on, albeit in a stripped back fashion minus all of their big-name Grandstand Acts, Aug. 4-9 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, 2815 W.
