Rock Island Public Library Hosting Books For Kids Trivia

The Rock Island Public Library Foundation and the Lorene Evans Watts Fund for Children’s Materials will host the “Books for Kids” Trivia Night on Friday. November 1, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Avenue, Rock Island. Donation to play is $10 per person. Participants can increase their chances to win by purchasing mulligan and doubler round stickers or bidding to win answers for a round from the night’s celebrity genius. The Quad City Storm will be auctioning twelve specialty jerseys this season and giving 100% of the net proceeds to non-profits in the Quad City Area. In the inaugural season, the Storm auctioned off five specialty jerseys that resulted in a majority of the over $170,000 that was given back to local non-profits.  The Storm were awarded the SPHL’s Wanda Amos Community Service Award for their commitment to the community.The SPHL has taken the plunge into the licensed jersey world and contracted four brands to be used by all ten teams: Peanuts, Nickelodeon, Mossy Oak and Marvel. Rhythm City® Casino Resort hosted the King’s Harvest Donate and Play every Wednesday in August to benefit King’s Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter of Davenport, IA. This promotion invited Resort Club members the opportunity to donate to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter and receive free slot play (up to $30). Rhythm City guests raised over $32,000 dollars to assist in the safe rescue and shelter for surrendered animals. Earlier this month, local hockey team the Quad City Storm were named Wanda Amos award winners; the award given by the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) for superior community service. The Quad City Storm ended their home season at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline Saturday night, playing before a packed crowd of appreciative fans! The team ended their home run of their inaugural season as big winners, and so were the charities of the Quad-Cities, as the Storm surpassed their preseason goal of $100,000 raised for local charities by raising OVER $150,000 for charity!
