Genesis Medical Center Nursing Officer Elected to National Nursing Leadership Board

Joel Moore, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer for Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, will soon be a national voice for nursing leadership. Moore has been elected to the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) Board of Directors. Elected by the organization’s membership, he will serve a three-year term, beginning January 1, 2024. As a board member for Region 6, he will represent Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota and North Dakota. Catherine and Tony Furlin, of Bellevue, Iowa, are the proud parents of the Quad-Cities’ 2023 Baby New Year. The couple welcomed their daughter, Emilia Elizabeth Furlin, into the world at 12:54 a.m. Sunday morning at Genesis Medical Center BirthCenter, in Davenport. Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, is the first in the Quad-Cities region to offer Ion by Intuitive, a robotic-assisted platform for minimally invasive lung biopsies that enables doctors to more easily obtain tissue samples for early detection and staging of lung cancer. Genesis Medical Center Davenport Earns Level III Trauma Reverification

Genesis Medical Center-Davenport will continue to treat and care for trauma patients after being re-verified as a Level III Trauma Care Facility by the Iowa Department of Public Health’s (IDPH) Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services. The reverification is for a three-year period. Quad-Cities One Of The Top 15 Hot Spots In The Country For Covid Spikes Over The Past Week

The Quad-Cities is one of the top 15 places where covid cases are increasing the fastest in the United States, according to new statistics released today. Among metro areas with at least 50,000 people, the Iowa/Illinois Quad-Cities ranks number 13 among the fastest risers, almost doubling its number of cases within the past week, from 1,476 to 2,922. According to a report in the New York Times today, the daily average of new COVID-19 cases in the country this past week has gone up 64 percent in two weeks, hitting 116,448 today.
