QuadCities.com is offering a series of features running today between 2 and 5 p.m. showcasing local businesses in advance of Small Business Saturday, AND, in this case, Museum Store Sunday.  The Figge Art Museum Store and Putnam Museum Store will be participating in Museum Store Sunday on Sunday, Nov. 29 from noon-5 p.m. There are 1,600 Museum Stores representing all 50 states, 24 countries, and five continents participating in the promotion. The public is invited to be a part of the Figge Art Museum’s next major exhibition, For America: 200 Years of Painting from the National Academy of Design, opening Feb. 20, 2021. Drawn from the collections of the National Academy of Design in New York, over 90 works made between 1810 and 2013 by historical and contemporary masters such as Winslow Homer, William Merritt Chase, John Singer Sargent, Andrew Wyeth, Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith, Charles White, Jane Freilicher, Hank Willis Thomas, and many others will be available for adoption as part of the Figge’s “Adopt-a-Painting” initiative. Downtown Davenport Partnership Presents New Master Plan

Despite the Covid crisis, the Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP) — an affiliate of the Quad Cities Chamber – has been very busy for the past eight months. The result of all that work was presented Tuesday afternoon, as DDP executive director Kyle Carter unveiled a new strategic master plan to the Davenport City Council during a public work session. The 110-page plan (led by a New York-based consulting firm) will be added to upcoming city council agendas for further public input, and a vote to accept the final version is expected by December. River Action’s first QC Environmental Film Series – which began in January 2020 – was interrupted by Covid-19, but will continue this Sunday, with the addition of a new youth video challenge. River Action and Fresh Films will be accepting 3-5 minute video on local environmental issues related to the Mississippi River by students this year for submission into a new QC Environmental Film Series Student Video Competition. The Figge Art Museum will welcome back Living Proof Exhibit, a nonprofit organization that provides the therapeutic benefits of the arts to people impacted by cancer, for its annual exhibition of cancer survivor art. Figge Art Museum To Have 15 Days of Events to Celebrate 15 Years

To celebrate the Figge Art Museum’s 15th anniversary on Aug. 6, the museum at 225 W. 2nd St., Davenport, will have 15 days of virtual events from Aug. 6 to 21 including performances, classes, behind-the-scenes tours, artist demonstrations and more.
