Living Proof Starts New Creative Sessions, Hires Program Manager

Living Proof Exhibit – which provides hope, support, and healing through the arts to Quad Citizens touched by cancer – is growing with new programs and a new program manager. Each month, LPE offers free Creative Sessions where participants use various art forms to heal and find hope. Everyone impacted by cancer is invited to these free sessions, including those undergoing cancer treatment, family members, friends, and caregivers. You can register online at livingproofexhibit.org. Quad City Symphony Offers American Tunes at Figge, Will Reopen to Audiences in March at Adler

To help celebrate the blockbuster exhibit “For America,” at the Figge Art Museum, the Quad City Symphony will feature American music in a Signature Series concert at the Figge’s lobby on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Up to 50 socially-distanced concertgoers will be allowed in person; the concert will be livestreamed and will be available for viewing for 30 days following the livestream. Let’s face it — Saturday, Feb. 20 will be a big day for museum lovers in the Quad-Cities, as two long-time Davenport institutions open new exhibits. A new original exhibit at the Putnam (1717 W. 12th St.), “Faces of the Past,”  explores portraiture around the world and across time as a reflection of self-identity, popular culture, mythology, and ritual. Art students from eight area colleges and universities will have their work displayed in the Figge Art Museum’s second-floor Katz Gallery beginning Saturday, Jan. 30 for the 11th annual College Invitational exhibit. The Figge Art Museum (225 W. 2nd St., Davenport) is opening a new exhibit Saturday, Jan. 16, in the second-floor Lewis Gallery. Blakelock: By the Light of the Moon, will feature eight extraordinary pieces of American art — some of which have not been on display in more than two decades. Two local nonprofit institutions – the Figge Art Museum and United Way Quad Cities – are holding unique online auctions.
