QUAD CITIES, Iowa / Illinois—Participants in the Quad Cities Community Foundation’s Teens for Tomorrow (T4T) program, a youth philanthropy group of high school students, today announced the recipients of the program’s annual grants. The grant recipients will direct the money toward programs that support people disproportionately affected by this year’s economic and educational challenges, including refugees, low-income students, and women displaced from the workforce, among others. Recycle The Runway — a “Project Runway” style fashion show which will be streamed virtually — is a must-see Quad Cities favorite, presented by Dress For Success. Before the designers are even chosen, volunteers fill giant bags full of random clothing, shoes, accessories, etc. and number them. Once the designers are selected, each one gets to come pick out a bag with no idea what is inside. Dress for Success Quad Cities is proud to announce the hiring of Tyla Sherwin-Cole as the new Executive Director. Ms. Sherwin-Cole replaces outgoing Executive Director and Founder, Regina Haddock. Ms. Haddock had announced her planned retirement, and a search for a new Executive Director was underway, when the temporary floodwall of the Mississippi River failed, flooding Dress for Success Quad Cities’ location and forcing them to evacuate. Dress for Success Quad Cities is one of many Quad City organizations impacted by the devastation of the flooding of the Mississippi River. The organization lost a great deal of inventory, as well as their location in Downtown Davenport. To recover the lost inventory, Dress for Success Quad Cities is holding a “Staying Afloat” Community Clothing Drive. Starting on June 14 community members can drop off donations of job interview appropriate clothing at a number of participating area businesses.
