Try New Spices And Recipes At Davenport Public Library

The world is full of different spices and we are going to attempt to try them all! Join us on the first Tuesday of each month November through December at 6:30 pm at Fairmount (3000 N. Fairmount St.) as we try a new spice and recipe, which will be provided to you. Come back the following month to discuss the spice and recipes we tried. We will discuss the importance of salt, taste different varieties, learn how to properly use it, and have a tasty treat at the end. Think of it as a book club for cooking! Join Figge educator, Kelsey Vandercoy, for an in-person talk all about Haitian art on Saturday, November 6th at 3:00 pm at Eastern Ave. (6000 Eastern Ave.) The Figge Art Museum houses one of the world’s largest collections of Haitian art outside of Haiti itself. Vandercoy will give a brief presentation about the basics of Haitian art and why the Figge has so much of it, followed by a hands-on art activity related to the lesson. Scott County Iowa Genealogical Society and the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center of the Davenport Public Library invite you to their monthly meeting Monday, November 1st at 6:30 pm. November’s presentation will be a talk by Michael Schmidt called “Oddities of the Lincoln Assassination.” Schmidt is a retired teacher of history and theater from Moline’s United Township High School.
