Beck and Woods Win Saturn Award For 'A Quiet Place'

The awards keep rolling in for Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the former Quad-Cities filmmakers who scored a huge hit with “A Quiet Place,” and have a new film, “Haunt,” in theaters. The duo won two awards, for Best Horror Release and Best Screenplay, for “A Quiet Place” at the Saturn Awards Monday in Hollywood. In July 2003, I saw the future of cinema in the work of two teens from Bettendorf. That was when I was asked by Max Collins to be a judge of the Iowa Film Awards. At the time, I was writing for three area newspapers, I was an entertainment correspondent for seven area radio stations and I was on two local TV stations ā€“ including KWQCā€™s ā€œPaula Sands Live,ā€ for which I was one of two film critics with my good friend Linda Cook. Former Quad-Cities filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods took home the Critics Choice Award for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Film for their blockbuster hit “A Quiet Place” at Sunday’s trophy ceremony in Los Angeles.
