Do you have an aspiring young chef in your home? Then they are going to love the newest classes available at the Milan Hy-Vee!

The Milan Hy-Vee (201 W 10th Ave Milan) is offering Junior Chefs Camp (9-13 years old) from Tuesday Jul 24 through Thursday Jul 26 in the Conference Room and One Step Garden. Morning sessions will run from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and the afternoon sessions will be from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Allow your children to sharpen their cooking skills while having fun with other aspiring young chefs. Each class is led by Nina, Milan Hy-Vee’s store dietitian and will utilize produce from the Milan Hy-Vee One Step Garden located just outside the store.Calling All Aspiring Junior Chefs!

Here is a run-down of each class:

Tuesday, Jul 24: Perfect Pasta

Junior Chefs will learn how to make homemade ravioli from scratch! Utilizing ingredients from the One Step garden Junior Chefs will make homemade pesto and marinara sauce to serve with their fresh pasta.

Wednesday, Jul 25: Veg-Tastic

In this class Junior Chefs will explore the many different ways to cut and cook vegetables. Using produce from our One Step garden Junior Chefs will learn how to roast, spiralize, puree, sauté and make chips/fries out of vegetables.

Thursday, Jul 26: Something Sweet

Veggies in our sweets? You bet! Junior Chefs will learn how to make homemade natural dyed frosting (from spinach and beets!) to decorate Greek yogurt cupcakes. Other sweets will include chocolate zucchini bread and avocado pudding.

Please make sure long hair is pulled back prior to class. Aprons will be provided in class – Junior Chefs may bring their own clean apron if they prefer.
