Genesis Health System is better optimizing emergency and convenient care services to increase capacity and enhance the ability to provide patients with the right care, in the right place, at the right time. This campus initiative will help the health system to better meet the needs of its communities, while also advancing delivery of specialized emergency care to patients with the most complex and pressing health care needs.

The comprehensive approach, designed based on an extensive study of community care needs, includes:
Establishing an Emergency Department at the Bettendorf HealthPlex to provide additional services;

Shifting from an emergency department to a convenient care model on the West Campus in Davenport, shortening wait times and enhancing affordable access to the services used most frequently at that location;

Continuing to enhance our East Campus Emergency Department in Davenport to centralize resources and expertise to address our patients’ most complex health care needs; and

Expanding convenient care services in Eldridge, Bettendorf and Silvis to better meet increasing community needs.

All changes will be coordinated to prevent any disruption in the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Genesis Health System Enhancing Emergency and Convenient Care
“Our emergency department and convenient care initiative is central to our responsibility to ensure Genesis Health System continues to deliver the safest, highest quality of care while providing an excellent patient experience to all those we are privileged to serve,” said Doug
Cropper, CEO. “We are deeply committed to working with our valued partners and community leaders to ensure our patients and communities understand how these changes will significantly improve the delivery of emergency and convenient care.”

The strategic scaling and optimization of facilities is part of Genesis Health System’s goal to continue to strengthen operations and expand capabilities and resources of caring for patients. This initiative builds on the Genesis’ investment in a state-of-the-art Medical
Center Tower in Davenport, the successful development of the Davenport HealthPlex, addition of several convenient care locations in West Davenport, and continued progress at the Medical Center in Silvis.
Transition planning is underway. Genesis Health System is beginning construction this month and anticipates completing comprehensive updates across campuses in fall 2022.
These planned enhancements will not only increase access and affordability of care and reduce wait times, but also are expected to create short-term and future pipelines for local and regional economic investment, growth and employment.
