Western Illinois University Presidential Inauguration Set for Oct. 16

The inauguration of WIU President Kristi Mindrup as its 13th president on Thursday, Oct. 16.

The events will begin at 1:30 p.m. with an investiture ceremony at the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall. The ceremony is open to the public and an RSVP is required.

WIU faculty are invited to participate in the procession at the beginning of the investiture ceremony. Registration is required. Faculty members are responsible for providing their own regalia.

Following the ceremony, there will be a student ice cream social with President Mindrup from 2:30-4 p.m. behind the University Union. The reception will feature music, prizes, a photo booth, dessert and Whitey’s Ice Cream.

The day will culminate with a community reception from 4:30-7 p.m. at Park Place in Macomb (127 E. Carroll St.) featuring live music, appetizers and remarks from Macomb Mayor Mike Inman. The 2025 Town & Gown and Honorary Alumni awards will also be presented at this event. The reception is open to the public and RSVP is encouraged.
