The Quad City Strikers Soccer Club’s U15 boys team has won the three-peat! For the third year in a row, the team has won the Iowa Presidents Cup over the other top-ranked teams from around the state. The Warriors won the state of Iowa’s Presidents Cup tournament over the weekend in thrilling fashion, going undefeated and fighting for a tough 2-1 win over UFA DesMoines in the title game, their fourth consecutive win against the highly touted DesMoines club. East Moline’s Rubi Tapia-Macias wins WB6 Cross Country championship and MVP honors

Believe it or not, 2003 was the last time when a girl from United Township High School won the Western Big 6 individual title in Cross Country. This year Rubi Tapia-Macias, a UT freshman, broke that spell and was also named MVP at the conference meet. Born and raised in the Quad Cities, Tapia-Macias started playing soccer and running when she was in elementary school. “I started running when I was 9 with the Girls on the run GOTR,” she said. Area elementary school kids can step up to the plate and get a free flu shot at Modern Woodmen Park on Tuesday, September 6 to gain free entry to the Quad Cities River Bandits game. The event will kick off the annual Genesis Flu-Free Quad Cities campaign that has provided more than 100,000 free flu vaccinations to elementary school students across the region for the past 15 years. Davenport, Iowa is going back to the Little League Baseball World Series for the first time since 1975! The 12u Little League Allstar Team won the Midwest Regional Little League Tournament last weekend and will represent the State of Iowa in the Little League World Series from August 18-28th. This is the first time since 1975 that a team from Southeast Little League has made it to the LLWS. DAVENPORT, Iowa – July 7, 2022 – What began in 2019 as a way to give back to the Quad Cities region for Genesis Health System’s 150th anniversary continues to gain momentum in 2022. For a fourth year, Genesis will “Pack the Bus” and collect school supplies for students across the region.
