Quad-Cities Family Video Stores, ALL Locations Nationwide, Closing

One of the last remaining video rental shops nationwide, Family Video, will close their Quad-Cities locations and ALL of their over 250 remaining locations nationwide starting Wednesday. The 43-year-old company will sell off all its inventory online and in stores while they remain open. Most of the chain’s stores are expected to remain open beyond Wednesday while their inventory is sold. High Times For Illinois As State Passes $1 Billion In Pot Sales For 2020

Illinois is celebrating high times in regard to its recreational marijuana sales. It was a year ago, Jan. 1, 2020, when the state officially opened its first legal marijuana dispensaries, and there’s been plenty of green brought in by the green. According to data released Monday by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Illinois recreational marijuana sales topped $1 billion for the year. Many in the Quad-Cities today are mourning the death Saturday night of Joe Terronez, 91, a former longtime leader of Silvis and passionate advocate of the area’s Hispanic heritage. “He showed us that change does not come willingly, that we have to persevere to right some of the injustices in this world,” Tar Macias, publisher of Hola America News, posted on Facebook Sunday morning. “Thank you Mr. Terronez for your leadership, your strong spirit and I am most grateful for your kindness to me all these years. Augustana College in Rock Island had extra special reason to celebrate on New Year’s Eve, as the blue lights on the Old Main dome turned gold to mark the private school exceeding its $125-million fundraising goal. Trinity on Friday announced that the first Quad-City baby was born at 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 1. Nora Grace Hessman was delivered by team members at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Moline Birthplace. The healthy baby girl was born to parents Brittany and Mark Hessman, of Coal Valley.
