At Tuesday night’s board meeting for Quad City Music Guild, it was decided to cancel the theater’s winter production, “Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn,” to continue to protect the safety of participants and patrons, and to comply with Phase Four of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s reopening plan.

Quad City Music Guild Cancels Holiday Show Due To Covid-19 Concerns“While we were initially hopeful we would be able to bring this holiday classic to our audiences, we remain committed to respecting the guidance set forth by our government and public health officials,” according to a statement at qcmusicguild.com/covid-19-response/. The show was scheduled for Dec. 2-6, 2020 at the Prospect Park auditorium, Moline. “ We will provide an update on our ability to produce this show at a later date as soon as we can.”

The Phase Four of the Illinois reopening plan, effective June 26, requires indoor theaters to operate at 50-percent capacity, or 50 patrons, whichever is less. Music Guild has a 535-seat capacity.

Circa ’21 in Rock Island has canceled its main musicals and plans to reopen with a smaller comedy this fall; Spotlight Theatre in Moline and Richmond Hill Players in Geneseo canceled the remainder of their 2020 seasons.

The incidence of Covid-19 cases has risen dramatically in the Quad-Cities in the past month. Since June 26, the number of positive cases increased from 1,406 in Rock Island and Scott counties to 2,708 on July 22.

Quad City Music Guild Cancels Holiday Show Due To Covid-19 ConcernsMusic Guild – which canceled all three summer musicals in May — said no action is required of current ticket holders. The ticket transfers will happen automatically for rescheduled shows in 2021. The process is as follows:

Four- or Five-Show Season Ticket Holders: Your Season Ticket Package will automatically be transferred to the 2021 Season. You will be assigned to the same show (first Friday, second Saturday, etc) and same seat numbers. We realize that some of our season ticket holders already received a partial refund for “The Secret Garden” (rescheduled for April 2021). Your tickets will be mailed to you this fall.

Three-Show Season Ticket Holders:  Your Season Ticket Package will automatically be transferred to the 2021 Season. You will be assigned to the same show (first Friday, second Saturday, etc) and same seat numbers. Your tickets will be mailed to you this fall.

Single Show Ticket Holders: For those patrons with tickets to specific shows this summer without a season ticket package, we will transfer your tickets to the same show (first Friday, second Saturday, etc) and same seat numbers.  To avoid confusion with online receipts with different performance dates, we will mail your tickets to you this fall even if you selected ’email the tickets’ at check out.

Gift Certificates: Guild will honor unredeemed 2020 gift certificates during the 2021 Season.

If you have questions or concerns about how the Ticket Transfer Plan applies to your order, please contact boxoffice@qcmusicguild.com or 309-762-6610.

“Thank you so much for your continued loyalty to QCMG,” the website says. “We are so grateful for the patience, understanding, and support of our dedicated patrons and volunteers.  We can’t wait to see you all just as soon as it’s safe.”
