There is a new festival coming to the Quad Cities! The downtown Davenport area will be transforming into a massive celebration of music, film, comedy and art!

Alternating Currents Flow Into Downtown Davenport

The inaugural Alternating Currents Festival will take place on Friday Aug 25 and Saturday Aug 26. A dozen venues downtown Davenport will be hosting an impressive amount of live music, film screenings, comedians and visual artists. The only venues that will require ticket purchase will be the Adler Theatre, Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel, Daytrotter and the Redstone Room at River Music Experience. All other entertainment venues are free! For a full lineup of the festival’s events, check out https://www.alternatingcurrentsqc.com/lineup.

On Friday Aug 25 from 12 p.m. until sunset and Saturday Aug 26 from 12 a.m. – 4 p.m. Quad City Arts will take over several blocks downtown (2nd and Perry, going east toward 2nd and Iowa Ave) for a Chalk Art Fest. This is a free, family-friendly event. There is no registration fee, but artists must register at https://www.quadcityarts.com/programs/community-arts/chalk/ prior to the event. Spectators can take a stroll through to observe the masterpieces and there will be a $1500 cash prize awarded to the artist with the most impressive creation.

Alternating Currents will be busting at the seams with entertainment, and there are some notable masterminds behind this amazing festival. Sean Moeller (Moeller Nights), Kate Dale (River Music Experience), Benjamin Crabb (Daytrotter), Cory Ewing (Flood 93 Radio) and Rick Palmer (Adler Theatre) have worked together to bring the best musical acts from all over. Joshua Ford (Ford Photography) and Harry Walker (En Media Res) have teamed up to lead the film screenings. Dan Bush (Analog Arcade Bar and Triple Crown Whiskey Bar & Raccoon Motel) and Andrew King (The After Hour) are the driving force behind the comedic lineups.

It is no secret that the Quad Cities Area is jam-packed with artistic talent. This festival is the perfect opportunity to not only showcase that talent, but to celebrate it in a fun and exciting way!
