The Friends of the LeClaire Community Library have received a large donation of art prints from local artist Raphael Iaccarino and held a reception today to allow library patrons to meet and thank the artist.  Iaccarino is an internationally recognized artist whose paintings are exhibited in public and private collections worldwide. Eight of the donated prints, some quite large, are vivid watercolors which were inspired by the magnificence of the tropical rain forest and jungles.  Six prints are architectural landscapes or interior roomscapes.

Iaccarino and his fellow artist, Larry DeVilbiss, have plans to distribute art prints to at least 50 Iowa libraries in the near future.  Iaccarino stated “In a library you can get discs, music, books…a repository of knowledge. The arts should be represented too.”

The Friends of the LeClaire Library presented these artworks to the LeClaire Library for permanent display and they purchased frames for the larger prints. One of the largest is titled “The Second Attention” and is now a focal point of the library’s lobby.  According to Steve Morency, president of the Friends, “We appreciate this donation from a well-known local artist, and the colorful artwork livens up our library atmosphere.”
