magic-sword-2A combination of Daft Punk, John Carpenter, Dungeons and Dragons culture, Tron, comic books, progressive rock, synth pop and more, Magic Sword will magically appear with opening acts Idpyramid and Alex Body from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursday at Daytrotter, 324 Brady St., Davenport. Advance tickets to the show are just $5.

A few interesting tidbits about Magic Sword:

Hailing from The Shores of Oblivion, the band members are The Keeper of the Magic Sword, The Seer of All Truths and The Weaver of all Hearts and Souls. So if you tried out for the band and your name was Jim Smith, well, you were probably pretty much out of luck from the start.

According to the band’s facebook, when the Magic Sword appears, good will prevail. So if you go to the show, once they hit the stage, you’ll have that going for you. Which is nice.

The band’s current jaunt about the country is called The Awakening Tour, but has absolutely nothing to do with that Robin Williams movie. Just to clarify.

The band formed in the year 1000, which makes them probably slightly older than Wilfred Brimley.

Magic Sword band member The Keeper has released a Spotify playlist of mystical synth pop music that can be accessed here: https://play.spotify.com/user/playstation_music/playlist/6uSS2mA8CQmtwxTn9MBwcy?play=true&utm_source=open.spotify.com&utm_medium=open.

The Vol. 1, Limited Edition Deluxe Vinyl via Tender Loving Empire, is available now at: www.magicswordmusic.com/shop and in select record stores.

To see them perform live, which will pretty much clinch the deal for you having to see them Thursday, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0YN-sJxpfE.

You can thank me later, at the show.
