There’s something magical about a massive group of low brass players getting together to perform Christmas carol melodies that really puts you in the holiday spirit. Good thing it’s time for TubaChristmas!

That’s right, this year’s QC TubaChristmas is happening this this Saturday Dec 9 at SouthPark Mall. The beautiful and melodic experience will begin promptly at 2 p.m. in the Younkers Court.

Griggs Music and the Harvey Phillips Foundation have sponsored this event every year since 1992 in the Quad Cities. It has grown into a very large and popular concert with up to 180 musicians ranging in age from 10 to 80, and players coming from Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Missouri.  The last several years, a participant even flew up from Alabama to play with the group.

The 2017 Conductor for this one-of-a-kind harmonious endeavor is Todd Slothower. Todd is the band director at Wilson Middle School in Moline and is also a member of the Quad City Quintet and Knockdown Brass Band. Past conductors have been Phyllis Miller in 2016, Zack Morton in 2015 and Calesia House in 2014.

If you are a low brass player pro and want to participate in this event, there is still time! Visit https://www.griggsmusic.com/qctubachristmas/ for more information on how to register and to find the practice schedule for Saturday.

Do not miss this musically magical day!
