Valor & Victory Gardens : WWII in the Hawkeye State

WWII was a global conflict that forever altered society and touched the lives of people around the world, including right here in Iowa. The year 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. With this exhibit we remember and commemorate that momentous occasion. Through local headlines, personal letters, and historic artifacts, we will tell the Quad Cities’ WWII story.

Join the German American Heritage Center & Museum (712 W 2nd St. Davenport) through Jan 17 for Valor & Victory Gardens: WWII in the Hawkeye State.

This exhibit is supported by the Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities and was co-curated by GAHC Staff and Arthur Pitz, Ph.D.

The exhibit will be open from September 13 – January 17 and is included with general admission:

Performing Arts Signature Series: Ho Etsu Taiko

A collective of musicians with a fresh take on the art of Japanese drumming, Ho Etsu pushes the envelope through collaborations with other taiko groups, musicians, and culturally-focused artists while staying grounded in the rich tradition of kumi-daiko. Their mission is to spread joy through each and every drumbeat by creating music that is true to who they are.

Your ticket includes a digital link of the performance along with curbside take-out service from either Crust in Bettendorf or The Combine in East Moline using a prix-fixe menu created for this event. A link to the menus with instructions for placing orders will be provided in advance. Access to the performance will be provided by 4 p.m. the day of the event and all orders placed in advance will be available at 5:30 p.m. for pickup.
