Western Illinois University Graphics Production Class Designs Mural for University Union

A unique mural of Abraham Lincoln, designed by Western Illinois University graphics students, will soon hang in the University Union to designate the building’s Lincoln Room. The initial idea for the mural came from University Union Assistant Director Ashley Katz, who wanted a design for the windows of the Lincoln Room to make its location in the building more recognizable. Western Illinois University Hosts 49th Annual Bull Test Sale

The 49th annual Western Illinois University Performance Tested Bull Sale was held in mid-March at Lowderman’s Auction Center in Macomb. The sale helps breeders, producers and cattlemen to identify important performance traits, profit-making indicators and value-added genetic markers. In October, the bulls arrived at WIU as weaned calves from 17 consignors from Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri. According to WIU Assistant Professor of Agriculture Keela Trennepohl, the bull test manager for the event, the bulls transitioned for 21 days and started on the test in early November. Dear University Community, While Pride Month is celebrated annually each June in remembrance of the Stonewall uprising, Western Illinois University will celebrate Pride Month throughout April to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had at WIU throughout the years. In 2011, the LGBT*QA Resource Center was established at Western Illinois University to serve as a home, and to raise awareness for, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning+ community at WIU. Ten years later, the resource center provides that home-away-from-home, numerous programming and events and resources for the WIU and surrounding communities. The McDonough County Health Department, in cooperation with Western Illinois University, will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for WIU faculty, staff and student employees only (graduate assistants and undergrad student workers) from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1 on the WIU-Macomb campus. Please note that retirees, dependents, spouses and alumni are not eligible to participate. The Moderna vaccine will be available, with the second dose clinic set at WIU for 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, April 29. Western Illinois University’s student-run, broadcast news station, NEWS3, won a broadcasting award at the annual National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition, hosted by NBS March 28. Western Illinois University Board Votes To Raise Tuition, Room And Board For Next Year

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL — The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees voted to increase tuition, room and meal plan rates for new, incoming students at its March 26 Board meeting. Tuition, room and meal plan rates have remained level/unchanged since Fiscal Year 2020 (Fall 2019). The 2021-2022 tuition rate for all incoming domestic undergraduate students will move to at $9,238 annually ($307.94/credit hour), from $8,883 annually.
