Western Illinois University’s student-run broadcast news and sports media, as well as the radio station, have been named as finalists for the annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Media Awards. For more than 50 years, Amtrak has provided critical transportation services to the west central Illinois region, including providing a way back home for many Western Illinois University students, as well as access to Chicago and points in-between for WIU students, faculty and staff. In 2006, a second round-trip service was added on the Quincy to Chicago line, which provides even greater options for residents of west central Illinois. For more than 20 years, Western Illinois University students have gone across the United States during spring break all in the name of helping others as part of WIU’s Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program. ASB, which is within Volunteer Programs in the WIU Office of Student Engagement (OSE), will once again hit the road this spring, to Memphis, TN. Western Illinois University Announces Fall Graduating Class

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – A total of 528 students earned academic degrees or post-baccalaureate certificates after the Fall 2021 semester at Western Illinois University. Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 308 graduates, including 43 Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degrees. Academic distinction was awarded to baccalaureate graduates who achieved high grade point averages. This includes: Summa Cum Laude, 3.90 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale; Magna Cum Laude, 3.75-3.89 GPA; and Cum Laude, 3.6-3.74 GPA. Master’s degrees were earned by 178 graduates. Western Illinois University Releases Its Dean's List For Fall 2021

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – A total of 1,164 undergraduate students enrolled at Western Illinois University were named to the Fall 2021 Dean’s List. The total includes 68 students at the WIU-Quad Cities Campus. To receive this award, an undergraduate student must earn at least a 3.6 grade point average on a scale of 4.0, which equals an A in a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded courses; pass-fail hours are not counted (e.g., student teaching, internships).
