Over $700,000 in Grants In Illinois And Iowa Awarded By Doris And Victor Day Foundation

Tyla Sherwin-Cole, Executive Director of the Doris & Victor Day Foundation announced the Foundation has awarded grants totaling $701,000 for the current grant cycle. The grant awards to Scott and Rock Island County not-for-profit organizations and programs culminates a months-long review process. The directors strive to bring to reality the goal of Doris and Victor Day to make the Quad Cities a “better place.” Since its funding by a $10 million dollar gift from Doris Day Estate in 1987, the foundation has distributed $24.468 million dollars in grants and currently has assets of $17.5 million... Read More

Scott County Designated as a New Home Base Iowa Community, Linking Veterans and Jobs

Veterans who put their boots – and roots – in Scott County now may be eligible for up to $8,250 in relocation incentives after the county’s new designation as a Home Base Iowa (HBI) community. The designation involves area partners including Scott County, the City of Davenport and the Quad Cities Chamber. The Scott County Health Department released alarming data today regarding rapidly rising covid-19 levels in the Iowa Quad-Cities and surrounding areas. The site released the following on social media: Due to an increase in our percent positive rate in the past 7 days, Scott County is now in the 𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗟 level of transmission of the coronavirus. UPDATED: Iowa covid-19 cases and deaths continued to have a massive surge after the Thanksgiving holiday week, tripling the number in Illinois, which continues to experience a rise in cases of its own. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, there were 30,328 new confirmed and probable cases of covid-19 in Iowa on Dec. 3, with 258 deaths reported; and even more cases and deaths Dec. 4, with 30, 629 cases and 340 deaths.
