Rock Island Schools Helping Families In Need With Meal Kits This Summer

Rock Island families can receive meals at no cost to them over the summer. Meal distribution will take place every Monday. The 5-day meal packs are for children 12 months-18 years regardless of income or school district enrollment. There will be a morning and an afternoon meal distribution. Meals must be pre-order by the Friday before. To preorder please call 309-581-2147. Five-day meal packs will be available on Mondays, starting June 7. The Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation celebrated the Rock Island High School Top Ten of each class at the Austin Academic Achievement and Scholarship Award night on Thursday, May 13, virtually. The Rock Island-Milan School District is going to Full Remote Learning through January 18, the district just announced. The shift is due to the skyrocketing numbers of covid-19 in the area. The Quad-Cities is the seventh-highest hot spot for new covid cases in the United States. Rock Island Milan Educational Foundation Provides Funds for RIMSD41 Digital Equity

The Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (RIMEF) Board of Directors has awarded $40,277.66 to fund internet access for Digital Equity in the Rock Island-Milan School District (RIMSD) over a period of 3 years. The vote was made at the RIMEF’s board meeting last Thursday after a presentation from RIMSD IT Director, Troy Bevans. Mr. Bevans stated the goal for the District’s technology is a sustainable approach reaching beyond the current COVID-19 crisis. Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation Gives Out $90K in Scholarships

Like most everything else in this time of social distancing, the annual awarding of scholarships and other recognition for Rock Island High School students was done online last month. The Rock Island-Milan Education Foundation (RIMEF), led by executive director Monta Ponsetto, assembled a video presentation to detail and honor the accomplishments of 114 RIHS students, including awarding nearly $90,000 in scholarships. Children who will be age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2020, are eligible to begin school for the 2020-2021 school year. To take a tour and learn more about our elementary schools visit here.
