Rock Island High School Student Council Holding Student Hunger Drive TONIGHT

The Rock Island High School Student Council is holding a student hunger drive to raise food for the hungry TONIGHT at the Rock Island vs. Quincy game at Rock Island Stadium at 6 p.m. The council will be collecting canned goods. People can get into the game for free with three canned goods (for children/students), and five canned goods (for adults). The Annual PRIDE of Rock Island Marching Band Preview Night is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 15! Washington and Edison Jr. High school bands with join the high school’s band for a performance then the PRIDE of Rock Island Marching Band will perform this years show “Rocky’s Toyshop.” The night will end with a fun twist – and the parents will attempt to shadow their student while performing the show. “Be Kind.” “You are Enough.” “We are in this together,” are just some of the many positive messages you’ll see at Rock Island High School. The idea came from Rock Island High School teacher Kelly Young. Mrs. Young was starting to accumulate several inspirational t-shirts. So she decided to start wearing them once a week at work, every Tuesday. “The idea is to wear shirts with inspirational or supportive text to show students we care,” said Mrs. Young.
