BREAKING NEWS: Illinois’ Region 2 could be headed backwards towards another, at least partial, shutdown, if covid-19 numbers continue to break in the wrong direction. The Illinois Quad-Cities is a part of Illinois Region 2, which includes Peoria and its surrounding areas, and those spots have been a hotbed for rising covid cases in the last two weeks, according to reports. BREAKING NEWS: Anyone over 16 will be eligible to get a covid-19 vaccination in Rock Island County. According to the Rock Island County Health Department, the RICHD is expanding vaccine eligibility effective today to all Illinois residents 16 and older at its clinic at the Camden Centre in Milan. Appointments are available this week. Is another surge in covid cases coming to the Quad-Cities? Rock Island County Health Department sent out a warning about “troubling” data in regard to covid-19 cases. The RICHD posted the following on its social media: We are beginning to see troubling trends of case counts and hospitalizations starting to rise. BREAKING NEWS: A Rock Island person is the first to be infected with the new, more deadly strain of the South African COVID-19 variant Thursday, Illinois Department of Public Health officials announced tonight. The variant B.1.351, was found in a Rock Island resident, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported. Rock Island County Reports New Covid Cases, Deaths For Today

The Rock Island County Health Department is reporting five additional deaths from COVID-19: a man in his 90s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 90s and a woman in her 80s, all of whom had been living in long-term-care facilities; and a woman in her 80s who died at home. The total number of deaths now is 192. “We offer our sincere sympathies to the loved ones of these five Rock Island County residents,” said Janet Hill, chief operating officer of the Rock Island County Health Department. Rock Island County At A 'Crisis Point' For Covid, Health Department Officials Say

Rock Island County is at a “crisis point” in regard to covid-19 cases, according to health department officials. Currently, a record 92 patients are in Rock Island County hospitals with COVID-19. In addition, the health department reports 114 additional cases.
