'War Of The Worlds' Stomps Into Black Box

The Black Box Theatre located in downtown Moline will present the original script of Orson Welles infamous “War of the Worlds: The 1938 radio script,” by Howard E. Koch and based on the novel by H.G. Wells. The production will open October 11 and run through October 21. The Black Box Theatre cast includes James Driscoll, Matt Walsh, Scott Tunnicliff, Mark Ruebling and Michael Alexander. WQPT Writing Contest Winners Selected

WQPT received 265 stories from students in kindergarten through third grade for the annual PBS/WQPT KIDS Writers Contest. Sixteen winners (four from each grade) were selected by educators and contest sponsors. The audience is in on the action. Did Miss Scarlet do it in the kitchen with a wrench? The audience decides in The Black Box Theatre’s newest offering – “Clue: The Musical.” Based on the board game, the action follows six characters who may or may not be the murderer of host Mr. Boddy. Broadway Star Weygandt returning to Q-C For Black Box Show

The Black Box Theatre is excited to announce that Broadway and television star Gene Weygandt will be performing at the theatre on October 20 and 21 in A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters.” Mr. Weygandt will share the stage with Lora Adams. Weygandt played the “Wonderful Wizard of Oz” in “Wicked” in Chicago and on Broadway. Other Broadway credits include his role as Paul in “Big.” Recently he has been seen as Chief Jones in “Chicago Fire” and is a three-time recipient of a Joseph Jefferson Award in Chicago.
