It’s alive! It’s terrifying! It’s MIDWEST MONSTER FEST! The product of the Dr. Frankensteinian mind of creator and producer Jeff O’Neil, the festival features everything from a tribute to “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” featuring a number of its stars to a costume contest, podcasting, merchandise booths, horror-themed events and more. Two Q-C natives, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, won over the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, this weekend as the film they wrote, “A Quiet Place,” opened the festival and wowed audiences. Former Quad-Citians Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have had an eventful week. The longtime filmmakers, their careers exploding in Los Angeles, saw two huge milestones in those journeys. Last week, Paramount Pictures released the trailer for Beck and Woods’ screenplay, “A Quiet Place,” which stars Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
