'Messiah' Returns To Rock Island's Augustana College Sunday

The Augustana College Department of Music presents “Messiah”, May 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. in Centennial Hall. George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” will be performed by the Augustana Oratorio Society, conducted by Dr. Jon Hurty, Director of Choral Activities at Augustana College. Many in Quad-Cities Are Mourning the Sudden, Shocking Death of a Young Musician

The family, friends, co-workers, teachers and students of Thomas William Hagaman are mourning his sudden, unexpected death at age 26 on Oct. 8. A big-hearted, boisterous musician who touched the lives of so many, Hagaman worked at Griggs Music in Davenport; was choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley, and died on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 in an accident at his home, where he lived alone. “The A Team,” a touring ensemble formed of members of the Augustana Chamber Singers, will perform in an international music festival in China this month. In addition to four concerts, two in Shanghai and two in Nanjing, the group will have opportunities for more informal, impromptu cultural exchanges, including singing and interacting with choirs from China and other countries from around the world.
