The Quad City Storm and UnityPoint Health® –Trinity are excited to announce the third annual Hockey Fights Cancer ice painting event will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, January 31 at the TaxSlayer Center.  Lavender paint and paint brushes will be provided for the general public to paint the names of friends and family members who have battled or are currently battling cancer on the ice.  The names will remain displayed on the ice for the Storm’s Hockey Fights Cancer Night game on Saturday February 5. The Quad City Storm is storming ahead with even greater efforts to battle cancer and help those who have battled the disease. The Quad City Storm is getting an early jump on raising money for the Hockey Fights Cancer Game on February 1, 2020. This year, you can honor a loved one who fought cancer by putting their name on a ribbon in the color of the cancer they fought for only $20. Once again, the Quad City Storm is stepping up to make a difference in the community. Known for raising money for their community, the Quad City Storm is giving fundraising a new twist. For years, sports teams have sold names on cancer jerseys to honor those who have fought cancer. But the Storm decided to take this opportunity to a new level and sell 1365 names so that every jersey is unique. Q-C Storm Raises Over $20,000 To Fight Cancer

The Quad City Storm, “the team that gives back,” hosted a Hockey Fights Cancer Weekwhich began with a Paint the Ice Event on February 6 and ended with a win over arch rival Peoria Rivermen on February 9. The game drew a crowd of over 5,000 and raised $21,700 for Gilda’s Club of the Quad Cities. The Storm’s Giving Back Campaign, #QCSTORMCARES, has now raised over $64,700 in only 16 games with hopes to raise $100,000 for local charities before the season ends in April. Join Ascentra Credit Union, Quad City Storm and Gilda’s Club Quad Cities as they decorate the ice with the names of those that have been affected by cancer! Paint the Ice Night – Cancer Night takes place this Wednesday Feb 6 at the TaxSlayer Center (1201 River Drive Moline). This event is free and open to the public. From 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. anyone can stop by to paint the names of those they want to honor directly on the ice. The names will remain on the ice for the Saturday Feb 9 game against the Peoria Rivermen.
