Quad City Arts Raises Nearly $76K So Far in Festival of Trees

Kevin Maynard was as busy as a Christmas elf last Friday afternoon, as he distributed sugar cookies in the area to help promote the 35th-annual Festival of Trees. In fact, the Quad City Arts executive director dressed as an elf to deliver the Olde Towne Bakery treats (topped with the Festival logo) to his home-based co-workers and other Festival supporters. The Putnam Museum & Science Center’s virtual Mad Scientist Ball, on Saturday, Oct. 17, raised $26,735, with donations still coming in. “I am THRILLED with the success of the event,” Nisha Ladlee, the Putnam’s vice president of development, said Monday by e-mail. “Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves. Don’t expect live concerts back at Davenport’s Redstone Room until next summer. And don’t expect the staff and volunteers at the 16-year-old River Music Experience to sit on their hands until then, either. EMSSC Spartans Raise Almost $1,000!

Thanks to the generosity of managers Jerad Welter of HyVee Moline on 7th Street and John Deere Road, and Alex McGehee of Anchor Lumber in East Moline, the EMSSC Spartans 08 team, ranked #15 in Illinois, was able to raise almost $1,000 in a bake sale at both spots last weekend. The money raised will help pay for tournament costs and uniform costs for the team!
