The Davenport Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the 2023 scholarship recipients from the Davenport Community School District (DCSD). 50 scholarships, totaling more than $95,000 have been awarded to 46 students to pursue their post-secondary education. Lisa Bartusek, the Executive Director of Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB), is retiring June 30th, 2023. After 26 years of service to IASB, she is leaving a massive impact on Iowa’s education system. The Davenport Community School District High School Apprentice Signing Day will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at the Waterfront center in Bettendorf. During this event 55 students from the Davenport Community School District will be signing apprenticeships with area employers. The apprenticeships are a chance for high school students to gain real-world work experience. Olivia Heller has been awarded the 2023 Dr. Thomas Anthony Dooley Memorial Scholarship. Olivia is the first Davenport North student to win the award in its 58-year history. Davenport North hosted the 88th Annual Jesse Day Relays, April 13, 2023, at Brady St. Stadium! This relay event is named after Jesse Day, who was a Geometry and track coach for the Davenport Community School District. Virginia Wayne, daughter of Jesse Day, was recognized at the relay event because she was celebrating her 95th birthday.
