After a three year hiatus, Lowland Block Party returns for its fourth edition 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Laborspace, 311 21st St., Rock Island. Organizer Jon Burns posted the following about the event: We’ve carved out a nice lil block over the last decade on the east-side of the downtown, which we’ve self-identified as the Lowland area. GARP Bringing Guided By Voices, Rentals, More To Codfish Hollow

The Codfish Hollow world according to GARP is one populated by an incredibly diverse and cool array of bands, and you’ll get to explore this brave new sonic location this weekend for the first GARP festival. The debut GARP gig takes place beginning at 4 p.m. Sept. 9 and noon Sept. 10 at Codfish Hollow, 5013 288th Ave., Codfish Hollow, Maquoketa, Iowa. It features five food vendors, two stages, 30 bands, free camping, free parking, hay rack rides, bonfires, art gallery, artists and art vendors, booze and more.

Q-Cs’ Cartouche Records Celebrating Release Of Two New Albums This Weekend

Local label Cartouche Records will deliver a cool sonic one-two punch this weekend with a pair of new albums, Devin Frank, “The Vanishing Blues” and Chrash, “Things My Friends Say,” which will hit stores and online music spots on July 15. Both acts were featured in last weekend’s live showcase at Daytrotter and played to appreciative crowds.
