The R.I.A. Federal Credit Union – which today is celebrating the opening of its new branch at the booming BettPlex – is partnering with a brewery there to help fund the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities (HFQC). The credit union is holding a ribbon-cutting for its BettPlex location at 3 p.m. Feb. 11, at 4880 Forest Grove Dr., Bettendorf. The Quad City Storm is getting an early jump on raising money for the Hockey Fights Cancer Game on February 1, 2020. Family fun and philanthropy were “in the bag” as Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25 sponsored its third annual Veteran’s Bags Tournament in support of the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. On Saturday, November 9, the union headquarters in Rock Island opened its doors to the community as people of all ages enjoyed the relaxed fun of the popular backyard picnic game of competing to toss beanbags into remote targets. Carson King is getting his own bobblehead — and all sales are helping out charity. Today, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the rendering for a limited edition bobblehead honoring Carson King, the “Iowa Legend” whose viral sign resulted in over $3 million dollars of donations to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
