Join the German American Heritage Center & Museum online this Sunday Nov 8 at 2 p.m. for “The QC During WWII”, a lecture by Dr. Art Pitz. The Tri-Cities became the Quad Cities and with that, all experienced a total war. Come and share that experience. This presentation will be presented live over Zoom. This event is free to the public. WWII was a global conflict that forever altered society and touched the lives of people around the world, including right here in Iowa. The year 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. With this exhibit we remember and commemorate that momentous occasion. Through local headlines, personal letters, and historic artifacts, we will tell the Quad Cities’ WWII story. Join the German American Heritage Center & Museum (712 W 2nd St. Davenport) on Saturday Oct 3 at 2 p.m. for a concert in their parking lot, featuring the Guttenberg German Band! The Guttenberg German Band is a traditional German/Bavarian village band with members from Guttenberg, Iowa and surrounding towns. The band consists of friends from all walks of life who practice together for the love of the German music. The concert will be located outdoors in our parking lot. Join the Wapsi River Center staff for the 2nd Annual Monarch Festival this Saturday Sep 12 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Wapsi River Environmental Education Center (31555 52nd Avenue Dixon). This day long festival will include activities for the kids, such as butterfly crafts, seed balls, a photo booth and education stations.
