The Codfish Hollow world according to GARP is one populated by an incredibly diverse and cool array of bands, and you’ll get to explore this brave new sonic location this weekend for the first GARP festival. The debut GARP gig takes place beginning at 4 p.m. Sept. 9 and noon Sept. 10 at Codfish Hollow, 5013 288th Ave., Codfish Hollow, Maquoketa, Iowa. It features five food vendors, two stages, 30 bands, free camping, free parking, hay rack rides, bonfires, art gallery, artists and art vendors, booze and more.

Local label Cartouche Records will deliver a cool sonic one-two punch this weekend with a pair of new albums, Devin Frank, “The Vanishing Blues” and Chrash, “Things My Friends Say,” which will hit stores and online music spots on July 15. Both acts were featured in last weekend’s live showcase at Daytrotter and played to appreciative crowds. Kalispell is ready to cast his spell on local music fans. The Davenport-based Cartouche Records artist will be performing at 7 p.m. Monday, June 27 at Daytrotter, 324 Brady St., Davenport, along with Dan Blakeslee.
