Black Hawk’s View of American History will be presented Wednesday, November 8 from 6pm to 7:30pm, at Rock Island’s Watts-Midtown Branch Special presentation for our 150th Year and Native American Heritage Month! Noted historical actor / storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis portrays the reporter who published Black Hawk’s life story. Listen to tales from Black Hawk’s autobiography, along with traditional chants and drumming songs. Ellis is part Cherokee and has studied with elders from several tribes. Bishop Hill Creative Commons to Hold Book Fair on Saturday, July 24

The Bishop Hill Creative Commons is hosting the second-annual Bishop Hill Book Fair on Saturday July 24th, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., where you can meet local authors in their natural habitat. Attendees can hear them speak and read from their recent work. Aspiring authors can attend workshops on cultivating the writer within. Books will be available for purchase, so people can collect autographs from their favorite local wordsmiths. The event will be held at the Commons at 309 N. On Friday, you can gaze up at the summer night sky and watch the stars in wonder. Join well-known local storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis this Friday, July 24 at 8 p.m. for a fun, family-oriented evening of American Indian Star Stories at The Twinflower Inn, 110 N. Olson Street, Bishop Hill. Safe social distancing guidelines will be in effect. Fox is an author and storyteller of Cherokee heritage. There will be drumming songs and a chance to sing long.
