Playwright David Henry Hwang Coming To Rock Island

According to Time Magazine, Chinese-American playwright David Henry Hwang, “has the potential to become the first important dramatist of American public life since Arthur Miller, and maybe the best of them all.” Hwang has been described by the New York Times as “a true original” is best known as the author of M. Augustana College invites the community to Chill on the Hill at the new Anderson Pavilion on campus, this Sunday Sep 8. The free event will feature food trucks and local bands at the Ruth and Lefty Anderson Pavilion, 3750 7th Ave., Rock Island. The pavilion is just south of the Brunner Theater Center, and the most convenient parking is in the Centennial Hall lot across 7th Avenue. Visitors should bring a blanket or lawn chairs. The next stop on our Java Journey is a very cool little coffee shop called  Cool Beanz. “Many changes have been made since our opening in August of 2009,” says owner operator Annette of her shop located in the hilltop area of Rock Island on the corner of 14th Avenue and 30th Street. On Friday, December 9, international musician and Voice veteran Javier Colon will be performing at the Brew at 6 p.m. The Brew is the coffee shop and lounge area located on the fourth floor of the Gerber Center (3435 9 1/2 Ave, Rock Island). Colon has been a contestant on The Voice and won the first season.
