The sun will come out… today! Well, maybe not the sun, but at least a show with a song about the sun coming out tomorrow — ”Annie Jr.” Davenport Junior Theatre is presenting the popular show, based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the award-winning musical, at 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Annie Wittenmyer Complex, 2822 Eastern Ave., Davenport. Tickets are free, and no reservations needed, but they’re also first-come, first-served, so get there early if you’re going. Davenport Junior Theatre (DJT) will be celebrating its 70th season of theater “for kids, by kids” with a four-show Mainstage season consisting of two DJT classics, Winnie-the-Pooh and Imagine That!, and two first-time shows: Annie Jr. and The Phantom Tollbooth. Once a year, a magical and touching celebration of the human spirit unfolds at numerous theatres across the country, when children in The Penguin Project take to the stage to perform a modified version of a well-known Broadway musical. The Penguin Project of the Quad Cities will present its inaugural production, Annie Jr., March 3-5 in the Kim and Donna Brunner Main Stage Theatre at Augustana College.
