Storm Delivers Strong SPHL Performances

Hockey holds a steady place in Quad Cities sports, with the Quad City Storm drawing consistent support from local fans. The team delivered strong results in recent SPHL games, with steady scoring and reliable goaltending:

  • 8-1 win vs. Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (February 22, 2026): Devin Sanders scored 5 goals, a new franchise record. He opened the scoring in the first minute and added a power-play goal soon after. Sanders completed his hat trick early in the second period and added two more, including one on a two-man advantage.
  • 5-2 win vs. Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (January 30, 2026): Denver Craig scored twice, with additional goals from Devin Sanders and Nick Parody. Sanders added an empty-net finish. Zane Steeves made 25 saves.
  • 5-1 win vs. Pensacola Ice Flyers (January 11, 2026): Ashton Paul opened the scoring and added another late. Nathan Berke and Leif Mattson each scored, and Sanders added an empty-net goal. Mattson recorded two assists. Steeves stopped 26 shots.

Steamwheelers Deliver High-Impact IFL Performances

The Quad City Steamwheelers are set to begin their 2026 IFL season as players report to training camp on February 26, 2026. Following a productive free agency period in late 2025 that focused on veteran leadership, the team enters the new year with a balanced roster and a finalized schedule of home game themes. There are still a few weeks until the first match of the season, and we’re looking forward to witnessing their progress.

If they are as great as they were during the 2025 season with the 45-28 win against the Fishers Freight, or the 56-35 win over the Massachusetts Pirates, things are looking up.

All in All

As the 2026 spring season approaches, the Quad Cities sports landscape is brimming with momentum. The Quad City Storm remains a centerpiece of local winter entertainment, recently bolstered by community engagement as local media teams have even joined them on the ice for practice.

The focus now shifts to the gridiron, where the Quad City Steamwheelers are preparing for an explosive return. Their journey begins on the road against the Fishers Freight on March 14, leading up to the highly anticipated home opener at the Vibrant Arena on March 21.

Whether you are cheering from the glass at a hockey game or the end zone at an indoor football match, the next few months promise high-stakes action and unwavering community spirit. Grab your tickets, mark your calendars, and get ready to support the home teams as they strive for 2026 championship glory.
