Local Music For A Great CauseYou have heard the heartbreaking story before. Whether you read it in a news article or heard it from a child’s mouth. The decline of fine arts in schools. Music class, choir and band classes are seeing more and more cuts every year.

The Local Bands for Music Education and the River Music Experience are teaming up together for their annual Local Bands for Music Education Benefit on March 11 from 2-11pm. The event will take place at the River Music Experience (129 N Main St Davenport) on the second floor. Admission is $5 for adults and 12 and under are FREE.

QC Area bands and acoustic artists will be performing on 3 different stages throughout the day. The Redstone Stage, Acoustic Stage and Performance Hall Stage will be filled with an amazingly wonderful turn-out this year. The full lineup can be found on the benefit’s Facebook event page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/635255603325307/.  Along with live music, there will also be a silent auction, raffles and games.

This year’s benefit will raise money for the Muscatine Schools Elementary Music Program. This hits close to home for one musical act, set to perform at 4:30 on the Redstone Stage. Monica, from the Monica Bell Band used to work as a barista at the River Music Experience. There, she found her inspiration and confidence to follow her musical dreams. Her band has now played all over the Quad Cities and has quite an impressive fan base. When she started working at the radio station in Muscatine, Monica and her son made the move into the Muscatine School District. Watching the happiness and contentment music brought his mother, her son was very excited for choir this year. However, due to lack of funding, there was no choir program. Seeing that devastation on her own child and thinking of children all over, Monica stated, “That’s fundamentally why I’m playing this for free. Music saved me…”

Please come to help raise enough funds for these kids to have the music program they deserve. You can help give an opportunity for music to save someone else.
