Bottoms Up Quad City Burlesque has been a strong presence in the Q-C nightlife scene since its debut five years ago. And, in all that time, as host and admin to our Facebook page, I have read so many messages asking for more. The requests for classes, auditions, bachelorette parties, festivals, and the list goes on and on.

This year we were finally able to make a dream come true.

The Bottoms Up School of Burlesque was brought to life after all this time. Over the past 15 weeks students have learned the building blocks to burlesque. Not only the “how to” but also what lies behind burlesque.

If you’ve been to a Bottoms Up show you know that at the top of the evening we usually explain to the audience that our show is no simple striptease, it is a night of celebrating the human form and owning your body and sexuality. It’s as much an emotional process as well as a physical one.

I had the chance to meet and interview each one of these lovely ladies in the very early stages of the class. In these interviews I asked them all the same few questions and their answers almost unanimously came back to one single concept.

Confidence.

Confidence in how they see themselves, confidence in their bodies, confidence in their attitudes, confidence in their everyday life.
It has been almost 12 weeks since most of those interviews took place and this weekend, Friday August 26 and Saturday August 27, these girls will hit the stage with just that! Confidence and a brand new art form to back it up!

Unlike a traditional Bottoms Up show there will be a total of 20 girls performing. However, it will be 10 different girls each night with a few of the Bottoms Up members who helped train them along the way performing alongside them.

I cannot begin to express how proud I am of these girls making their way to our stage at the Circa 21 Speakeasy for their debut show. I have no doubt that while this may be the first time you will see these outgoing and inspiring women, it will certainly not be the last.

Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Doors at 7 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available to reserve at the Circa 21 Box Office by calling (309) 786-7733 ext 2 or online at www.thecirca21speakeasy.com.

It’s time to go Bottoms Up and reserve your seat for history in the making today!
