MercyOne Issues Statement On The Passing Of Pope Francis

Des Moines, Iowa, April 21, 2025 – Today, we mourn the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. Pope Francis was symbolic of change. Over his years serving as our Holy Father and the “People’s Pope, ” he had a curiosity for change while maintaining his fidelity to the Catholic Church. At MercyOne, we admire his immense global influence, all while remaining rooted in humility. His focus on the less fortunate and caring for the marginalized exemplifies our Mission. As we reflect on his remarkable legacy, let us remind ourselves of our Mission and Values and live them out as Pope Francis did. We extend our prayers to all those giving thanks for his service to God and humanity.
