The Illinois Council of Convention & Visitor Bureaus (ICCVB) has named Dave Herrell, President and CEO, Visit Quad Cities, as their new chairman.

Dave Herrell is president/CEO of Visit Quad Cities.

This industry-led group works together with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Office of Tourism to enable its members to be more effective and efficient in attracting visitors to their communities.

“I am humbled to join alongside my peers and serve this extremely valuable organization, said Herrell in a Tuesday news release. “ICCVB and its 38 member destinations throughout the State of Illinois are critically important to driving tourism, positive economic outcomes, and shaping Illinois’ travel and tourism future.

“We look forward to our continued service to the ICCVB mission, alignment with the Illinois Office of Tourism and the Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO), and the many partners and stakeholders that we work with daily to help grow the brand, story, and economic wealth throughout Illinois communities,” he said.

ICCVB provides educational opportunities that raise the level of professionalism in the travel industry, and it provides a forum for networking and cooperative action between the members. The organization also maintains a proactive legislative and advocacy effort on issues that affect tourism in Illinois.

Jonathan Turner -- who has called the Quad Cities home since 1995 -- has decades of experience as a professional journalist and pianist. His experience writing for daily newspapers, public radio and local TV encompasses a wide range of subjects, including the arts, politics, education, economic development, historic preservation, business, and tourism.
