As we’re into the second year of the Covid pandemic, more rescheduled 2021 events are again being pushed back another year, as TEDxDavenport announced Monday.

TEDx Davenport Event Postponed Again, to June 2022

The June 2021 TEDxDavenport event at the Adler Theatre is being rescheduled to June 2022.

After being moved from June 2020, to this June, the event organizers are rescheduling again to June 25, 2022 at Davenport’s Adler Theatre.

“Given the fluid situation of the vaccine rollout, varying state regulations, the safety of travel for our speakers, and limitations of masks and social distancing for our attendees (both for the event and meet-greet following the event), we feel that our 2021 date is not feasible,” TEDxDavenport posted on Facebook. “We want to ensure both speakers and attendees have the best, most immersive experience.”

The goal in postponing is multi-fold:

  • Allow speakers more time to practice and refine their presentations, given the changing state of the world.
  • Allow more time to add a few additional speakers to the already stellar lineup.
  • Enable attendees to have an immersive experience without pandemic limitations.
  • Enable maximum amount of attendees in the venue.

“We believe, though disappointing, is the right decision for everyone, and gives us all the opportunity to make this event the best it can be,”

Michael Kutcher, twin brother of Ashton Kutcher, is a spokesperson for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

the post said, noting if you already have a June 2021 ticket, it will be rolled over to the new date.

If you would like a refund on your ticket, you can submit your request to Ticketmaster or the Adler box office (at 563-326-8555 or boxoffice@riverctr.com).

Originally, the twin brother of Ashton Kutcher and an “American Pickers” co-star were among those on the schedule for TEDxDavenport, first scheduled for June 6, 2020.

The independently organized event, licensed by TED, will feature local and national voices under the theme of “Epiphany.”

Among the headliners for the third-annual local TEDx were to be Michael Kutcher, Iowa native and fraternal twin of actor Ashton Kutcher, who’s a leading advocate for disability awareness and organ donation, and Danielle Colby of History’s “American Pickers” series, who will speak on her passion for burlesque.

Launched in 2009, TEDx is a program of events that bring the community together to share a TED-like experience, according to an event release.

Burlesque expert and “American Pickers” co-star Danielle Colby.

“Our Quad-Cities has an amazing community of innovators with ideas worth spreading. TEDxDavenport is designed around the concept that we can blend our community ideas with other perspectives from across the country and elevate the Quad-Cities on the national stage,” Andrea Olson, TEDxDavenport director and producer, said in December 2019.

Michael Kutcher, a 43-year-old Cedar Rapids native who lives in Denver, faced the first of several life-threatening circumstances before he took his first breath, according to his bio. Due to irreversible neurological deficiencies, Kutcher was diagnosed with cerebral palsy before entering kindergarten and later underwent a heart transplant.

He works with Reaching for the Stars, A Foundation of Hope for Children with Cerebral Palsy and the Be the Gift donor registration campaign as an advocate and public speaker.

Danielle Colby, a 45-year-old Davenport native, started co-starring with “American Pickers” Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz in 2010 on the History Channel.

She has been working in Puerto Rico, continuing to aid in the rebuild of the island while dedicating her time to orphanages, animal shelters, and raising awareness on the human trafficking crisis, according to her bio at www.daniellecolby.com/about.
