Ribbon Cutting For Re-Opening Of Moline’s Leedy Building And Moline Club On Friday

A ribbon cutting ceremony will commemorate the re-opening of the historic Leedy Building and its Moline Club event rooms in downtown Moline.
Members of the media and the public are invited to attend the ribbon cutting at 11:00am on Friday, June 27th.
City staff and leadership, representatives from Renew Moline and the Moline Centre Program, and downtown Moline merchants will be in attendance. A tour of the building and the club will follow the ribbon cutting.
Located at 1530 5th Avenue in Moline, the 3-story Leedy Building was built in 1912 for the Moline Commercial Club, a men’s organization founded in 1895 by Charles Deere, son of John Deere. The building served as the YWCA 1927-1978, and Fannie May Candies was a longtime fixture in the corner street-level space.
The Moline Club’s ballroom (3rd floor) still features the musician’s balcony, and the 2nd floor event area still has a large oak fireplace and historic wood trim. In addition to the areas available for event rentals, the Leedy Building also has street-level commercial space available for lease.
