Mondays can be rough.

A Video You Deserve For The Voices In Your HeadAnd so, every Monday, we give you a music video.

A fun, funny music video. Something that’ll make you smile, make you laugh, make you reminisce, and make you realize that back in the day, music video creators were probably either insane or heavily intoxicated.

But were also incredibly entertaining.

We call this feature, The Video You Deserve, and you can find it every Monday on your site for fun, free entertainment and features, QuadCities.com.

Our latest video is one from the debut album by a band whose sophomore effort was far more commercially successful in the United States, but whose first album has been more enduring in terms of pop cultural impact.

Tears For Fears became global mega-stars with the success of their second record, “Songs From The Big Chair,” which included hits like “Everybody Wants To Rule The World,” “Head Over Heels” and “Shout.”

But over the past several decades, that mega-platinum 1985 album has receded in influence, replaced by its predecessor, “The Hurting,” which was a solid hit in their native Britain, but nothing more than a cult classic here in America and most other countries worldwide. Songs from “The Hurting” like the title track, “Pale Shelter,” and especially “Mad World,” have become ubiquitous across various films and TV shows, from “Donnie Darko” to “Stranger Things” and more.

The biggest resonant hit from that album has undoubtedly been “Mad World,” which has been covered by a number of other acts and ended up on the soundtracks to several films, most notably “Donnie Darko.” But for my money, the track which has aged the best has been this one, “Pale Shelter,” which still sounds icy and futuristic more than 40 years after its release. And here it is, today’s Video You Deserve, “Pale Shelter,” by Tears For Fears…
