“Over the past 25 years, The Speakeasy in downtown Rock Island has been the original home to several popular comedy troupe’s including ComedySportz for 20 years and, more recently, the now defunct Blacklist comedy troupe. The Speakeasy is thrilled to help launch it’s third improv troupe with the announcement of the area’s newest adult improv comedy troupe,” said Brett Hitchcock, owner and manager of the Speakeasy.

“Open Source has over 20 talented performers from across the area with years of improv and stand up comedy experience!” Hitchcock said. “Many performed with The Blacklist while others have experience with ComedySportz, Livewire, and Trabajos De Manos. All of the OPEN SOURCE IMPROV shows will be adult themed and uncensored improv comedy shows.  Those attending must be 21 or older to attend… so leave the kids at home!”

“The Speakeasy has always been known as a wonderful room for all kinds of comedy” he said.  “Regardless if it’s stand up, improv, or sketch it’s just a great room for everything! When the managers of OPEN SOURCE approached us about coming back to The Speakeasy to do shows we were on board right away!  We are really excited to be offering improv comedy shows again on a monthly basis.”

Tickets to Open Source Improv are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show.  Call 309-786-7733, Ext. 2 by phone or online at www.thecirca21speakeasy.com.
