Older than pretty much every player on both teams of the NBA finals, older than almost every act in this week’s Billboard Top Ten pop chart and older than Ashton Kutcher’s favorite trucker hat, the Iowa 80 Truckstop is keeping on trucking for it’s 37th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree Thursday through Saturday, July 14-16.

The event, as always, is at the Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. Admission and parking are free. Shuttles will be provided from the parking area to the event grounds.

This year’s jamboree will feature nearly 150 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest, Antique Truck Display; Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker Olympics; carnival games; several free concerts:  Dani Lynn Howe Band and Clare Dunn on July 14th courtesy of CAT Scale and North of 40 and Sammy Kershaw on July 15 presented by Mobil Delvac. Trucking’s Highway Angel Spokesperson Lindsay Lawler will perform on Saturday afternoon, July 16. There will be fireworks displays on Thursday and Friday night and loads of fun for the whole family!  Friday afternoon attendees can enjoy a piece of cake at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in celebration of the 1916 Mack AC truck’s 100th birthday with Ruth Fruehauf, granddaughter of trailer founder August Fruehauf, will be on hand for a book signing.

“The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is about celebrating America’s truckers and the hard work they do while hauling everything we need,” says Delia Moon Meier, owner. “We are proud and honored to serve professional drivers and thankful that we’ve been allowed to do so for the past 52 years,” says Meier.

The first Walcott Truckers Jamboree only attracted a few hundred people in 1979 and featured a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks.  Last year’s event attracted over 42,000 attendees.  Celebrating America’s Truckers is why the Jamboree was founded all those years ago and is still at the very core of the event.  It is Iowa 80’s way of showing drivers appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America’s freight.
