A New Religious Experience Opens at Davenport’s Putnam Museum Saturday
On Saturday, June 14th, the Putnam Museum and Science Center will be opening a new exhibit, “Sacred Places.”
The exhibit encourages the exploration of dozens of sacred sites across the globe. Through stories from teenagers and adults, guests are invited to expand their understanding of different beliefs and ways of worshipping, according to a museum release. While you hear their stories, you can tell yours and promote wider conversations of what a sacred place means to you.

“Sacred Places” is a traveling exhibit at the Putnam, produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.
Produced by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the traveling exhibit includes artifacts like stained glass, statues, and objects used for prayer. Dozens of belief systems are represented, and there are six major immersive environments that showcase the world’s major religions.

“Sacred Places” is on display through Sept 1 at the Putnam.
“We are so excited to be able to offer the exhibit, ‘Sacred Places’ to the Quad City area,” Christina Kastell, Curator of History and Anthropology at the Putnam Museum, said in a Friday release. “The exhibit allows guests to not only explore places around the world that many consider to be sacred, but also to see the beautiful objects related to these places.”
The exhibit will be available until Sept. 1st. The museum is open seven days a week at 1717 W. 12th St., Davenport. For more information, visit www.putnam.org.

“Sacred Places” offers a number of religious-themed art pieces.
